Everymind appoints Associate Professor Carmel Loughland as Acting Director

Everymind is pleased to welcome Associate Professor Carmel Loughland to the role of Acting Director of Everymind for the next 18 months while the Institute’s substantive Director Jaelea Skehan fulfils a position as Special Adviser for the National Suicide Prevention Taskforce.

Associate Professor Loughland who is a senior registered psychologist, brings with her clinical experience in addition to national and international mental health research expertise, with particular interests in research translation, medical education, genetics and bio-banking and severe psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia.

Associate Professor Loughland is currently the Lead for Allied Health Research within Hunter New England Mental Health Service and has a position in Translational Mental Health Research with the NSW Ministry of Health and Faculty of Health and Medicine, University of Newcastle under the Priority Research Centre for Brain and Mental Health Research.

Everymind is excited to welcome Associate Professor Loughland to the role and the team look forward to working in partnership to maintain Everymind’s strong track record of delivery on existing programs.

Associate Professor Loughland will also be focusing on further cultivating and strengthening Everymind’s research capacity and capability, consequently supporting the discovery and exploration of new horizons for the Institute.

Associate Professor Loughland begins in the role from Monday, 30 September 2019.
