Information sessions for carers

During May and June, the Hunter Institute of Mental Health, in partnership with Carers NSW, will be delivering a series of information sessions for carers of people living with a mental illness.

The first session will be held next week, Thursday 4th May, with a focus on suicide prevention. Participants will learn to recognise when someone is thinking about suicide, how to respond and where to seek support and resources. For more information about this session, download the flyer here.

A session about self-care will also be held on Tuesday 6th June. This session will provide carers with information and practical skills in creating balance in their life and taking time out to care for themselves. Further information is available here.

If you are a carer of someone living with mental illness and reside in the Newcastle, Port Stephens, Maitland or Cessnock local areas, we encourage you to attend. To register, contact Tania Ewin on (02) 9289 4280 or [email protected].
