Kristy has been with Everymind since 2012. She is a Senior Project Officer within the Suicide Prevention team and holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts (BCA) in communication and cultural studies/creative writing from the University of Wollongong.
Kristy is very passionate about mental health promotion and suicide prevention and has led a variety of Mindframe projects within the media, social media, and mental health and suicide prevention sectors. She is the previous MindOUT! LGBTI Champion and her career highlights include developing the Mindframe app and media resources, delivering LiFE Think Tank presentations around the country, presenting at the Suicide Prevention Australia conference in Canberra, and chairing an ANZCA Conference session at UON.
Kristy has more than 14 years’ experience working with and in the media, holding senior journalism roles at prestigious national magazines, newspapers and online publications in Australia and the UK. During this time, Kristy has also specialised in public health sector communication roles for the NHS (UK) and NSW Health (Aus).
With solid expertise in media relations, print and online journalism, project planning, and resource development, Kristy is forward-thinking and has exceptional stakeholder management skills. She holds an MEAA-accredited Professional Subediting Certificate and has completed her Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
Kristy is passionate about collaborating with and training news journalists to ensure media portrayals of suicide and mental illness are safe, accurate, and do not impact our most vulnerable.
