Associate Professor Loughland joins Everymind following an extensive career, bringing with her a suite of national and international mental health research expertise.
She is stepping into the role of Acting Director of Everymind, while substantive Director Jaelea Skehan fulfils a role as Special Adviser at the National Suicide Prevention Taskforce.
A senior registered psychologist, Associate Professor Loughland has particular interests in research translation, medical education, genetics and bio-banking and severe psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia.
Currently the Lead for Allied Health Research within Hunter New England Mental Health Service, Associate Professor Loughland also has a position in Translational Mental Health Research with the NSW Ministry of Health and Faculty of Health and Medicine, University of Newcastle under the Priority Research Centre for Brain and Mental Health Research.
She has successfully supervised a number of research higher degree students from the School of Medicine and Public Health, and School of Psychology, including PhD, Clinical Doctorate, Masters and Honours level students.
Recognised for her extensive research, Associate Professor Loughland has presented her research findings at national and international scientific meetings, including as a keynote speaker and chair.
In her Acting Director role, Associate Professor Loughland is looking forward to innovating and maintaining Everymind’s strong track record of delivery on existing programs as well as strengthening the Institute’s research capabilities over the short and long term.
