Family and friends supporting paramedics video series
We appreciate your interest in contributing to our family and friends of paramedics project. Your lived experience as a support person is invaluable.
From June 2022, Everymind will commence a lived experience video series to support the new Minds Together for family and friends supporting a paramedic experiencing mental ill-health or suicidal distress online program.
We know from research that sharing real experiences help to build connection, reinforce to participants that they are not alone, and encourage help-seeking. We would like to hear from both family members and friends of paramedics and paramedics themselves to showcase various experiences for this program.
What is involved?
Filming will take place in Newcastle, NSW, from June 2022. However, virtual participation may be considered. Dates and times will be confirmed with participants once scheduled.
Those who participate will be required for one-hour to complete a filmed interview with Everymind team members and a production crew at a local film studio.
Everymind will cover costs associated with travel expenses for your participation. You will also be renumerated for your time.
What will I be expected to talk about?
Interview topics for family members and friends will include what is it like to support a paramedic, the challenges and rewards of providing support, caregiver wellbeing, how to start a conversation with a paramedic you are worried about and your one piece of advice for others who are supporting a paramedic.
Interview topics for paramedics will include your experience of mental ill-health or suicidal distress, how family or friends have helped you, communicating with your support person and advice you would give to other paramedics and their family members or friends.
