Bob Hawes commenced with the Hunter Business Chamber (HBC) as CEO in January 2017. The HBC boasts over 2,000 members and is the largest regional Chamber in Australia. As CEO, Bob is responsible for driving the HBC strategy and program of thought leadership, policy development, advocacy and executing delivery of events and member development programs.
Bob has extensive experience and knowledge in the realm of regional development with expertise in infrastructure planning, location analysis, economic and social impact assessment, project feasibility, property and land use strategy.
Holly is an experienced marketing and communication professional. She is the Chief Marketer at The Marketing GP, an innovative boutique marketing agency, that seeks to have businesses implement marketing that is strategic, integrated and leveraged.
Her entire team works virtually and so building a positive and mentally healthy workplace culture is a different type of challenge, but something that Holly is always working on.
An innovator and thought leader, Holly also founded, and is the General Manager of, online business news publication, Hunter Headline.
Andrew McMahon is the new face of MATES in Mining (MATES) - prior to joining MATES, Andrew worked in the mining industry as Director Health and Safety at the NSW Minerals Council and Minerals Council of Australia, and as a Board Member of Coal Services.
He is passionate about suicide prevention and mental wellbeing, fostering landmark research on mental health in the mining industry and published a national mental health and wellbeing blueprint for the industry.
Andrew can often be found pottering in his gardening, reading, cooking and attempting to play the violin. He also loves trail running and triathlons.
Jennie Lyons is the owner of Hunter-based dry cleaning and laundry business, Pride Dry Cleaning and Laundry, as well as a Hunter Business Chamber Board Member.
Jennie knows first-hand of the impact of suicide in the workplace and has engaged in workplace training through LifeSpan Newcastle so that she is better able to recognise when a staff member or customer is in crisis and to ensure she and her staff are able to respond appropriately.
LifeSpan Newcastle is led by an alliance of agencies working together locally to prevent suicide. Working with corporate partners, the LifeSpan Newcastle Business Strategy aims to bring together business owners and senior leaders to support their workplaces to be proactive about suicide prevention.
